In the last blog, I discussed the meaning of the word, holistic, and how it is been applied to health care.  I defined a holistic health care approach as one that comes from a balanced brain/mind.  Conventional veterinary (and human) medicine is steeped heavily in left brain (rational, intellectual) thinking and has created a conditioned mind approach to medicine.  It uses Newtonian Science to focus on the body as an object and theorizes that the best way to know how the body works is to break it down into smaller pieces and look at all the pieces.  It slowly advances according to modern technology, but unfortunately, it is very limiting with its benefits.

When a conventional approach to pet health care is solely used, due to the influence on the conditioned mind of the practitioner, it becomes automatic, non-focused and limited.  This is why there are no cures for cancer or even the common cold.  It is based on linear thinking, cause and effect and focuses on the body as being form-based.  This is what is meant when a veterinarians says  that their perspective is scientifically-proven.  This means that the approach to health care is based on the laws of Newtonian science.

Even science today has admitted that the body is more than form.  Our old friends Einstein and his buddies discovered that all things (form) are actually energetic in nature.  The body actually is energetic in nature but also appears as form as well.  Conventional medicine has had a difficult time accepting this and has stood firm in its approach to see the body as form only.  This is likely heavily influenced by the pharmaceutical industry which is in alignment that the body is only form and can only be treated with biochemistry (drugs).

The problem is that the laws of form do not explain the laws of energy.  This would be like trying to play chess using the rules of checkers.  It can’t be done and it never will be done.  This happens when material scientists try to scientifically prove how subtle energy works.  They can’t do it, so they say it isn’t so.  Sounds a bit childish don’t you think?

The laws of subtle energy and the energetic body are easily explained using Quantum physics instead of Newtonian physics.  Yet, conventional medicine doesn’t want to re-learn science.  Remember what I said with conditioned mindset.  It creates comfort in its ways and forms deep conditioned neural pathways.  A clinician that spend eight years in college and many years applying material science, is very reluctant to start over with a new perspective of thinking.

This takes us back to a holistic approach to health care.  We need to have a balanced brain to do this.  We have to learn how to use the right brain functions  in order to become balanced minded.  Remember, left brain thinking is about linear thinking, cause and effect; the old “prove it to me” approach.  Right brain thinking is just the opposite.  It is founded on circular thinking, intuitive and insightful determination and instead of being reductionist.  It is holistic in its nature.  It understands that all things are interconnected instead of separate.

When a holistic vet talks about the importance of feeding a balanced, fresh diet, this is great and is certainly a major influence on the pet’s health.  The same goes for understanding how over-vaccinating a pet can be harmful and how applying chemicals to a pet for fleas and ticks is not in the pet’s best interest, but this is not holistic medicine.  This is still working with the body as a physical object and the affects of form on the body.  It is still working with left brain logic.

So, let’s look at food and see how we can tweak our thoughts about it and its effects on the body.  It is one of the greatest feats of consciousness.  If your pet eats a fresh, balanced diet using raw meat as its protein source, using left brain and conventional thinking, the meat is converted to amino acids and ammonia and the amino acids are arranged to construct tissue and provide nutritional needs in the way of biochemistry (still form).  We focus on using wholesome, even organic food.  From our conditioned perspective, we have provided the best diet possible for cellular function (cells operate the physical body).

Dr. Bruce Lipton, cell biologist, and his co-workers at Stanford Medical School proved that subtle energy is the major influence on cellular function.  His research stated that the energetic effects have 100 times the influence on cells as biochemistry.  Wow, conventional medicine doesn’t even recognize the body as an energetic component and does not consider the energetic effects on cellular function.

Back to the food discussion.  We give our pet the best balanced, fresh diet fed raw and feel good that we have done all that we can do.  But, if we look at it from an energetic perspective, is this true.  Let’s say that we are feeding chicken or beef as the meat source.  What were the energetic influences on that animal that is being fed.  What type of life did it have?  How much stress was it exposed to?  What was the stress associated with the handling at the processor?  If we are honest, it was probably exposed to a tremendous amount of stress.

If the animal was exposed to stress (subtle energy) over extended periods of time, its cells were highly influenced by the negative energy.  The stressful energy became part of the tissue and your pet is taking in that negative energy when she eats the physically healthy food and in time, becomes part of its physical body.  You are what you eat is not limited to form.  It always includes energy.  If we don’t address the energetic component, we will continue to scratch our heads when things happen that we can’t explain.

The holistic vet tells you that if you feed a balanced, species-appropriate diet fed raw, don’t over-vaccinate and don’t expose your pet to toxic chemicals, it will not get cancer.  Yet, I talk to people all over the world about their pet with cancer and this is not the case.  I remember having a phone consult with a lady in California that did everything that we holistic vets tell her to do, but her four-year old dog had malignant cancer.  Then there was the client who had a sixteen year old dog that never was sick a day in its life and died in its sleep.  It had been fed dry kibble its entire life and received vaccinations yearly as prescribed by their veterinarian.  The only deduction our rational mind can make from these cases is that we don’t have all the facts.

If we accept this, and we must, if we are to be truly holistic in our approach, then how can we find out the missing link and what can we do to influence these factors that have been ignored for so many years?  I will discuss this in the next and last part of this series.
